The Senate on Tuesday passed two bipartisan bills that seek to boost recycling and composting.
By unanimous consent, the Senate approved S. 1189, the “Recycling Infrastructure and Accessibility Act,” as amended, and S. 1194, the “Recycling and Composting Accountability Act,” as amended.
For several years now, the bipartisan leaders of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, Chair Tom Carper (D-Del.) and ranking member Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), have sought to advance the bills.
The “Recycling Infrastructure and Accessibility Act” aims to address struggles that rural and underserved communities have faced by creating a pilot recycling program.
